Our Story
We – that’s Andrea and Frank. We came to Boa Vista for the first time in 2009 – as holidaymakers. And we immediately fell in love with the island. Our second stay followed just a few months later. By then we had already decided that we wanted to live and work here. The idea of guided tours in German came to us when we were travelling around the island with a local. Then the planning phase began and of course everything had to be „organised“ in Germany. At the beginning of 2011, the time had come: our arrival on Boa Vista. We had already rented a house and our container with our first car and various other things had already arrived on Boa Vista.
In fact, it wasn’t long before we were travelling around the island with our first guests. Our guests liked what we did and so we got our first recommendations, both on the internet and by word of mouth. Since then, we have gained many regular guests, some of whom are now even very good friends. In 2012, a boat owner here on Boa Vista approached us and wanted to work with us. We really enjoyed working on the sea and so, after just two years, we decided to have our own boat here.
Together with a friend in Germany, who is a boat builder and knows his way around, we searched the internet for suitable offers. We found a few interesting properties in Spain and Frank travelled there with our friend. Unfortunately, it soon became apparent that the pictures of the boats on the Internet didn’t have much to do with reality. So Frank came back without having achieved anything. As this „trip“ to Spain was pretty disappointing, we put our project on ice again for the time being.
But about a year later, by chance, we found the then „Pochola“ in southern Spain on the internet. The owner was a German, so we thought it was worth another try. We went to Spain again and Frank came back with a signed contract. The big adventure of transporting the boat from Spain to Boa Vista then followed in October. Since then, we have welcomed many guests not only on our own car, but also on our own boat – the „Simply No Stress“.
A strong company finds an investor even in bad times. And so, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, we were able to call a new boat our own. Together with our investor, we bought the Al Custom 21 „Blue Fever“ – a boat that is extremely popular with deep-sea fishermen. With this addition, we have been expanding our range with „Big Game Fishing“ since September 2021.
After the 2023 whale watching season, we had a detailed discussion with the biologists. This conversation led to a very interesting conclusion: zodiacs are ideal for whale watching tours. Why? They are fast and manoeuvrable and offer a completely different perspective to our motor yacht „Simply No Stress“. The clear disadvantage is that you sit very low above sea level and therefore don’t have a good view. But as a team with our motor yacht, this „problem“ is cancelled out. Once we had the idea in our heads, we had to pursue it and so the search for new or second-hand Zodiacs began. After a few weeks, we found the ideal boat builder: a Zodiac just as we imagined it and the price was right too. In May 2024, the time had finally come: the Zodiac arrived on Boavista.
The boat expands our offer with snorkelling tours, panoramic trips along the coast and, of course, as an additional boat during the whale watching season. Standing still is falling behind and so a new project was added in 2025: our first own holiday flat will be available for our guests from March 2025 at the latest. In the meantime, our team has of course grown, because we can’t realise all our offers with just two people. We now have 7 permanent employees (5 of whom work on our three boats alone) and thus provide 7 families with a steady (and above-average) income.
Our drivers are „subcontractors“, so to speak. They all have their own car and are therefore naturally looked after and driven very responsibly. We also have a permanent team there and don’t change drivers for every tour. This is the only way we can all function as a well-rehearsed team. We are all looking forward to welcoming you here at Boa Vista.
